About Somatic Counselling

The word somatic is derived from the Greek word “soma” which means living body. Somatic therapy is a holistic therapy that studies the relationship between the mind, body and spirit.

Somatic Counselling is retrospective and proactive, with an emphasis on forward movement by understanding past experiences. It is meant for any person that is ready to commit to personal understanding, self-growth and wellness.

Have you ever felt stuck, overwhelmed or trapped by a specific stage of life – maybe even a specific project, relationship or circumstance? Feeling this way is completely normal, and it’s completely human. But it doesn’t have to last. In order to make forward progress these feelings and experiences require our attention. A counsellor provides the external perspective, objectivity, guidance, accountability and confidentiality that is often necessary in order to address challenges and work towards self-growth.

Jennifer Shillington, B-rooted’s founder, not only has a M.A in Counselling, Spirituality and ICF Coaching Fundamentals, but is also fully trained in various therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).  Having a basis of education and experience in each of these approaches allows B-rooted to adapt each program to best suit every individual and their specific journey, all within the context of holistic health and personal improvement.
