Individual Therapy

Virtual & In-Person Somatic, Trauma-Informed Counselling in Comox Valley, BC

A Gentle Return to Yourself

You’ve done so much to hold your life together. You’re capable, thoughtful, and deeply self-aware—and yet, something still feels off.

Individual therapy at B-rooted is a space to slow down, soften the constant inner pressure, and reconnect with yourself in a way that goes beyond insight alone. We work with the wisdom of your body—not just your thoughts—to support deep, lasting change.

This is therapy for people who are tired of managing, fixing, and pushing… and are ready to feel steadier, calmer, and more at home within themselves.

When You’re Carrying Too Much:

Ongoing burnout, overwhelm, or emotional exhaustion

A nervous system that feels stuck in high alert or shutdown

Constant mental busyness, urgency, or self-pressure

Reactivity, irritability, or shutting down in moments that matter

Difficulty being present, even during joyful or meaningful times

Chronic tension, fatigue, or feeling disconnected from your body

A quiet but persistent sense that life shouldn’t feel this hard

Individual therapy

What Becomes Possible

Our individual therapy is grounded in somatic, trauma-informed care. This means we gently explore not only your thoughts and emotions, but also what’s happening in your body—where stress, survival patterns, and resilience live. Rather than pushing for insight or “fixing,” we create space for your system to settle, reorganize, and heal from the inside out. This work is compassionate, collaborative, and deeply respectful of your innate capacity for wholeness.

Greater Nervous System Regulation

Your body begins to feel safer, allowing stress to move through without overwhelming you. You may notice less reactivity, fewer crashes, and more steadiness in moments that once felt too much.

Relief from the Constant Internal Hustle

The pressure to push, manage, and stay ahead starts to soften. Life feels less urgent, rest becomes possible without guilt, and your days hold more ease.

A Deeper Sense of Connection to Yourself

You begin to feel more grounded and at home in your body. Many clients describe this as feeling more like themselves again—clearer, calmer, and more connected.

Healthier Communication & Boundaries

With greater regulation, it becomes easier to express needs and set boundaries without shutting down or overreacting. Connection feels safer, clearer, and more confident.

A Life That Feels Lived, Not Managed

Presence replaces constant mental noise. You’re able to engage more fully with your work, relationships, and meaningful moments—without always feeling one step behind.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is individual therapy?

Individual therapy is a one-on-one space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences with the support of a trained therapist. At B-Rooted, this work goes beyond talking—we also gently include the body, helping you understand how stress and patterns live in your nervous system, and how to shift them in a more lasting way.

Does individual therapy work?

Yes—especially when it’s the right fit for you. Therapy can support real, lasting change by helping you understand your patterns, build new ways of responding, and feel more grounded in yourself. Somatic therapy, in particular, works with both the mind and body, which can make the changes feel more integrated and sustainable over time.

Is individual therapy covered by insurance?

Our registered counsellors are covered by a variety of extended health insurance plans. This means that, depending on your provider, you may be able to get full or partial reimbursement for your sessions.

It’s helpful to know that each counselling registration body is different, and insurance coverage can depend on which professional designation your counsellor holds (such as RCC, CCC, or RSW). Because every plan is unique, we recommend checking directly with your provider to confirm what’s included in your coverage.

Our intern counsellors, while highly skilled and closely supervised, are not yet covered by insurance — which is why they offer reduced-rate sessions to help keep support accessible.

For the most part, we do not offer direct billing. After your session, we’ll provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

If you have any questions, we’re happy to walk you through it during your free 15-minute consultation, so you can feel confident and informed before booking.

What is the 2-year rule for therapists?

There isn’t a formal “2-year rule” in therapy. Sometimes people refer to the idea that meaningful, lasting change can take time—especially when working with deeper patterns or trauma. That said, therapy is not meant to be endless. The pace and length of therapy are unique to each person and are guided collaboratively, based on your needs, goals, and readiness.
