Psilocybin Assisted Therapy

Virtual & In-Person Somatic, Trauma-Informed Counselling in Comox Valley, BC

What is Psilocybin‑Assisted Therapy?

Psilocybin‑assisted therapy combines psychological support with the guided use of psilocybin (a psychedelic compound) to facilitate therapeutic insight, emotional processing, and somatic regulation. Work is trauma‑informed and anchored in safety, pacing, and the client’s goals. Outcomes vary by person and are shaped by set (mindset), setting (environment), preparation, and integration.

About the Practitioner

Jennifer (MA, RCC) is a trauma‑informed, somatically oriented counsellor trained through Therapsil to support psilocybin‑assisted work. Her approach centers safety, nervous‑system regulation, consent, and harm‑reduction. B‑rooted Counselling does not sell or provide psilocybin and supports clients within legal and safety boundaries.

Two Pathways We Offer

Micro-dosing (Virtual)
  • Intended for those exploring low, sub‑perceptual dosing strategies to support mood, focus, or creative/therapeutic inquiry.
  • Support is offered virtually and includes intake/screening, personalized harm‑reduction guidance (dosing schedules, safety, interactions, and contraindications), and regular check‑ins to track effects and adjust approach.
  • Suitable for ongoing, paced exploration with attention to somatic and psychological safety.
Macro-dosing (Ceremony, In-Person) - Limited Spots Available

Offered only a few times per year due to preparation and safety requirements. Available as individual sessions or small groups.

Macro-dosing follows a three‑step process:

Step 1 — Preparation (minimum 2–3 sessions, virtual or in‑person)

  • Thorough screening for medical/psychiatric contraindications and medication interactions
  • Establish therapeutic goals, intentions, and safety plan
  • Somatic grounding practices, nervous‑system stabilization, and relational containment to support the dosing session

Step 2 — Dosing ceremony (single session, in person, 6–8 hours)

  • Held in a supported, supervised by a minimum of 2 trained clinicians, trauma‑informed container with trained facilitation
  • Ceremony length typically 6–8 hours; pace is guided by participant needs and safety protocols
  • Focus on holding, somatic resourcing, and non‑directive therapeutic presence

Step 3 — Integration (minimum 2–3 sessions, virtual or in‑person)

  • Timely follow‑up to process material that emerged, translate insights into daily life, and consolidate somatic and relational changes
  • Includes practical planning, ongoing emotional and nervous‑system support, and referral as needed

All clients complete a thorough intake and screening to assess suitability and identify medical or psychiatric contraindications. In some cases, we will recommend alternative or adjunctive care. Your safety, informed consent, and aftercare are prioritized.

Potential Outcomes

Increased emotional clarity, openness, and access to previously avoided material

Shifts in mood and depressive symptoms for some clients

New perspectives on habits, relationships, and life priorities

Enhanced capacity for self‑compassion and somatic regulation

Improved integration of traumatic memories when supported safely

Note: responses are individual and not guaranteed. Careful screening and integration are essential.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does psilocybin treatment work?

Psilocybin treatment works by creating a temporary shift in perception, emotions, and thought patterns.

In a guided therapeutic setting, psilocybin can help quiet rigid thinking, increase emotional openness, and allow access to deeper insights. With proper preparation and integration, this experience can support lasting changes in how you relate to yourself, your past, and your patterns.

Is psilocybin good for mental health?

Research shows that psilocybin may be helpful for certain mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and end-of-life distress.

When used in a safe, structured setting with professional support, it has been associated with reduced symptoms and improved well-being. However, it’s not suitable for everyone, which is why careful screening and guidance are important.

Can a doctor prescribe psilocybin?

Psilocybin is not widely available by prescription in Canada.

However, in some cases, individuals may access it through Health Canada exemptions or approved clinical programs. Access is regulated, and it’s important to work with qualified professionals who understand current legal pathways.

What does a psilocybin assisted therapy session look like?

Psilocybin-assisted therapy typically involves three phases:

  • Preparation: You meet with a therapist to build trust, set intentions, and ensure safety
  • Session: The psilocybin experience takes place in a calm, supported environment with guidance available throughout
  • Integration: Afterward, you work with your therapist to process insights and apply them to your daily life

The focus isn’t just the experience itself—but how it’s supported and integrated for meaningful, lasting change.
