Working with Your Anger
Virtual & In-Person Somatic, Trauma-Informed Counselling in Comox Valley, BC
When Anger Feels Bigger Than You Want It to Be
Anger is not a problem in itself. It is a signal from the nervous system that something feels unsafe, unfair, overwhelming, or unmet.
But when anger comes out in ways that feel explosive, sharp, constant, or out of your control, it can strain relationships, create shame, or leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and others.
Anger therapy at B-rooted offers a body-based and trauma-informed way to work with anger without suppressing it or letting it run your life. We help you understand what your anger is protecting, what it needs, and how to respond to it with more choice and steadiness.
How Anger Might Be Showing Up for You:
Feeling irritated, tense, or on edge much of the time
Sudden outbursts that feel bigger than the situation
Anger that turns inward as shame, self criticism, or withdrawal
Difficulty calming down once you feel activated
Feeling misunderstood or not heard in important relationships
Regret or confusion about things you have said or done in anger
What Becomes Possible
Our approach to anger therapy is somatic and trauma-informed. We do not try to get rid of anger. We help you build the capacity to notice it earlier, stay present with it, and understand what it is asking for.
As your nervous system becomes more regulated, anger becomes less overwhelming and more informative. It becomes something you can listen to rather than something that controls you.
Less Explosive Reactions
You notice more space between feeling anger and acting on it. Reactions feel less intense and more manageable.
Greater Emotional Awareness
You become more aware of what sits underneath your anger, such as hurt, fear, grief, or unmet needs.
Improved Communication and Boundaries
You are more able to express yourself clearly and directly without attacking or withdrawing.
More Calm in Your Body
Your system feels less tense and braced. It becomes easier to settle after activation.
Less Shame and More Self Trust
You feel less afraid of your anger and more trusting of your ability to work with strong emotions in a healthy way.
